Here is what I made..

I couldn't resist making a card with this cute little skunk and using the Love die from the Heart of Heart Dies set.

To start, I took a panel of Neenah Solar White and started flicking different colors of Distress Inks onto the paper. I used: Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon. I keep using them together and I keep loving it! I wanted the colors to have a bit of shimmer to them so I added some Perfect Pearls to the Mermaid Lagoon and flicked it on the panel a bit more. I probably went overboard but I admit it, I was having fun!

I wanted to use the Fancy Frame Dies in a way I hadn't used them before so I used the two scalloped dies in the set and die cut them together to save time. To assemble the card, I simply adhered the outside of the die cut panel directly to the card base. To make the middle of the die cut panel higher, I adhered it with one strip of foam tape. For the center of the die cut panel, I adhered it using two strips of foam tape together so it was higher than the rest. The photo above shows the dimension much better than my final photo and you can see the sparkle from the Perfect Pearls.

The theme of this Linky is Hearts so I decided to pull out my extra hearts from the few times I've die cut the large heart from the Heart of Heart Dies. Going along with the colors on the background, I colored the hearts to match using Copic Markers and set them aside. I have to add, having extra hearts laying around has been very convenient! Another reason to love the new die set!

This little skunk is so cute. After second generation stamping him on Neenah Solar White, I colored him with various Copic Markers and filled in his eyes and smile with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker. I wanted him to have a place to stand on the card without free floating so I decided to have him stand on the Love arrow.

I die cut the Love arrow out of sparkly blue-green cardstock and then several times from black cardstock so I could layer the paper and give it some dimension as well. After fussy cutting the skunk, I adhered him with foam tape to stand atop the Love arrow.

Here you can see that I took the several small hearts that I had colored with Copics and adhered them to the card base using Multi Medium Matte.

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you like the card and that you join us in the Hearts challenge!

CDD Throwback Thursday - Miss You

Hello and Happy Thursday!

I'm here to share a card for Throwback Thursday! Any project you see on the Craftin' Desert Divas blog on Thursdays will feature one of Tara's older stamp sets. Here is what I created today:

I used the largest panda from the very sweet Panda Pals stamp set and colored it with Copic Markers. I used the sentiment, Miss you, which is one of many sentiments that fit on the paper the panda is holding and stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Using the ScanNCut 2, I cut out a heart shape and smushed the Versamark ink pad directly on the paper. I sprinkled Liquid Platinum embossing powder over the Versamark and melted it with my heat tool.

For the background, I blended Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet into some Neenah Solar White. Over the top of that I adhered a piece of foiled vellum. After I adhered the Panda to the card, I was done.

January 2016 CDD New Release

Welcome to the CDD January Stamp & Die Release Blog Hop.
All stamps & Dies are in the CDD Shop and now available for purchase HERE.

Here's what I've created for you!

For my first project, I made a tag with the Stitched in Circle Dies and the hedgehogs from the new Lovies stamp set.

Using the three largest dies, I began die cutting circles out of Neenah Solar White and adhered the two pieces together on the back so they stayed as one piece. So there wasn't too much white around the shaker, I used Copic Y02 around part of the die cut to add a pop of color.

To make the shaker, I sacrificed a stamp envelope and die cut it with the largest die from the Stiched in Circle Dies. After receiving the heart sequins, I had an idea to make a shaker with the blue for the sky and the green for the grass. I easily achieved this by using my Fuse tool to make the divide to keep the two colors separate, sealed it and set it aside.

Next, I wanted to try no line coloring on the hedgehogs so I second generation stamped them with Antique Linen Distress Ink and colored them with various Copic markers. For the sentiment, I stamped, "Hedge over heels for you," on a scrap of Neenah Solar White in Versafine Onyx Black. I cut the scrap piece of paper down, cut a quick banner and adhered it to the shaker.

After adhering everything together, I liked the shaker so much that I didn't want to put it on a card base. I ended up making it a tag. I had never made a tag until now so although it's probably a bit large, I'm happy with the end result! :)

Here is my second card:

For my second moose card, I wanted to put the moose on green vegetation to make up for the desert card.

I started by masking off the edges of the card base about an inch in on all sides. I wanted to try using the Distress Ink color, Wilted Violet for the sky and I blended Shabby Shutters and Twisted Citron into the ground. To soften the harsh line I had created with the mask, I brought out several colors of green Copics and began flicking them randomly over the Distress Ink.

Next, I stamped the moose with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with various Copic markers. After I fussy cut the moose, I added a touch of Clear Wink of Stella to the tips of his antlers.

I used the sentiment that comes in the mini stamp set, I moose you, and stamped it on the card base with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white Hero Arts embossing powder.

To finish the card, I decided to add a few of the hearts that were left over from the heart die in the Heart of Heart Dies set and a small bow made of bakers twine. I colored the hearts green and adhered them to the panel. As a final touch, I added Clear Wink of Stella to the hearts and was done.

CDD Let it Snow Linky Party - Wishing You the Merriest Holiday Season!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today is the start of a new Linky Party! The Theme is, Let It Snow. Every other Monday will mark the beginning of a new semi-weekly Linky Party over at the Craftin Desert Diva's blog. I hope you will play along with us and share your projects with the Let It Snow theme! Every Linky Party will have a winner and a Top 3 so you have a chance to win a prize! The more times you join us, the better your chances!

Here is my project:

To start, I took a piece of watercolor paper and blended Blueprint Sketch and Salty Ocean Distress Inks into the background. After sprinkling drops of water on the ink, I patted the water off with a paper towel.

Next, I used the largest die from Fancy Frame Dies to die cut the panel.

When the ink was dry, I heat embossed the sentiment, Wishing you the merriest holiday season, from the stamp set, Tis The Season, using Hero Arts Embossing Powder in White. When I brushed off the anti-static powder from the panel, I used a white gel pen to draw snow on the background.

For the snow, I decided I would use two of the Stitched Scallop Dies because let's face it, die cut looks better than hand cut with scissors. :) One of my friends brought it to my attention that these dies have double piercing between the stitched lines. I love the look of it! And I can't believe I didn't see it before.

The critter I decided to use for this card comes from one of my favorite CDD stamp sets, Chilly. Isn't this bunny just darling? I stamped the bunny on Neenah Solar White 80 lb and lightly colored with various Copic markers. I colored a shadow and bunny prints with Copics and adhered the bunny to the Stitched Scalloped watercolor cardstock, finishing the bunny by adding white gel pen dots to him as well.

To finish off the card, I taped the two pieces of stitched scallops together, positioned the scalloped frame die over them and die cut them together. When they came out, they matched the scalloped panel. After I adhered everything to the card, I was finished!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a beautiful day!
