CDD Things With Wings Linky Party - If you've got it, Haunt it!

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today I am sharing my card for the Linky Party Theme, Things With Wings!

Every other Monday will mark the beginning of a new semi-weekly Linky Party over at the Craftin Desert Diva's blog. I hope you will play along with us and share your projects with the Things With Wings theme! Every Linky party will have a winner and a Top 3 so you have a chance to win a prize! Here is what I made:

I used the Hallo-scream Stamp set from the new CDD release to create this card. The bats and moon is such a fun stamp and I decided it would be perfect for this Linky Party Theme!

To begin, I cut a piece of orange distressed patterned paper from the paper pack, Grand Bazaar from Basic Grey, to a standard A2 size. I thought it would be fun to try and create a spooky background so I tried something new to me. I took my Versamark ink pad and randomly swiped it along the outside edge of the patterned paper. I didn't bother with using my anti static tool because a spooky Halloween card doesn't need to be clean. After that, I sprinkled Super Fine Detail Black Embossing Powder from Ranger over the inked areas and melted it with my heat tool. Such a fun effect! To further distress the background, I lightly blended Black Soot Distress Ink around the edges as well and moved on to the stamping.

The background has a lot of deep black shine thanks to the embossing powder. When I stamped the moon, the black ink I used looked dull and flat next to the embossed areas so I decided to re-stamp the moon with Versamark and the black embossing powder. Keeping in the realm of deep black and shiny, I decided to use Versamark ink and a Versamarker with the same black embossing powder throughout the rest of the card.

This fun sentiment was perfect for this spooky Halloween card!

Next, because this is a Things With Wings theme, I stamped extra moons and fussy cut all of the bats. After I cut them out, I colored the bats with a black Zig Clean Color Real Brush pen and used clear foam tape to adhere them to the background. I also colored the moon with two colors over the patterned paper.

With the Versamarker, I drew shaky lines and heat embossed the lines black. The bottom right corner seemed empty so I quickly drew a haunted house over vellum and cut it out with my craft knife. I had other ideas that weren't panning out so I simply colored the vellum front and back with the black Zig Clean Color Pen and used Tombo Mono Multi Glue to adhere it to the panel. I used an orange Zig to color in the windows and when the Tombo Mono dried, I sprinkled Martha Stewart Crafts crystal fine glitter over the house and rubbed it in with my finger. The base of the vellum clashed with the black embossing so I pulled out some black enamel accents and used the tip to smear it in an upwards motion.

After I added Clear Wink of Stella to the bats, I adhered my panel to an orange card base, added some CDD sequins and I was finished!
